Coal Fired Power plant

Pecem II to achieve better performance to reduce the Environmental impact
EPC Works performed under challenging environmental conditions

The ENERGIA PECEM I Power Plant is located in North East Brazil, Ceara region, approximately 60 km from the state capital, Fortaleza.
ENERGIA PECEM, a partnership between EDP-Energia do Brazil and MPX Energia (now ENEVA), signed the first turnkey Engineering, Procurement & Construction (EPC) contract with Tecnimont and Efacec Consortium for the construction of the 720 MW pulverized coal fired steam power plant in 2008.
The project is a pulverized coal combustion plant with a semi dry lime desulfurization system, fabric filter for particulate retention and low NOx burners.

Later in 2008, PECEM II, a subsidiary of MPX Energia (now ENEVA), signed the second turnkey Engineering, Procurement & Construction (EPC) contract with Tecnimont and Efacec Consortium for the construction of the 365 MW pulverized coal fired Steam Power Plant. This new plant had to be inserted in the existing plot of ENERGIA PECEM and had to utilize the same auxiliaries and facilities.
The project is a pulverized coal combustion plant with a semi dry lime desulfurization system, fabric filter for particulate retention and low NOx burners.

With respect to the other 2 units of ENERGIA PECEM, this unit had to achieve better performances. The power plant fulfilled all contractual technical requirements including high availability and strict environmental emission controls.

The power plants have been conceived in compliance with the best practices in sustainability and environmental responsibility.
