The ITAQUI Power Plant is located in North East Brazil, Maranhão region, approximately 15 km from the state capital, São Luís.
UTE ITAQUI, a subsidiary of MPX Energia (now ENEVA), signed with Tecnimont and Efacec Consortium a turnkey Engineering, Procurement & Construction (EPC) contract for the construction of the 360 MW pulverized coal fired Steam Power Plant in late 2008.
The project is a pulverized coal combustion plant with a semi dry lime desulfurization system, fabric filter for particulate retention and low NOx burners.
The power plant has been conceived in compliance with the best practices in sustainability and environmental responsibility.
The power plant fulfilled all contractual technical requirements including high availability and strict environmental emission controls.
