The Thermal Power Plant of IBIRITERMO is located in Ibirité - state of Minas Gerais, Brazil.
IBIRITERMO S.A. is a partnership between Edison S.p.A., one of the major companies in Italy in the field of electricity and natural gas, and PETROBRAS – Petróleo Brasileiro S.A., a Brazilian integrated energy company in the field of oil and natural gas.
IBIRITERMO S.A. signed with TECNIMONT DO BRASIL COMÉRCIO E INDÚSTRIA LTDA and TECNIMONT S.p.A (at that time Fiat Engineering) a turnkey Engineering, Procurement & Construction (EPC) contract for the construction of 240 MW combined cycle power plant to be installed in the existing PETROBRAS facilities at the end of year 2000, to produce electricity for CEMIG, Minas Gerais energy production and distribution company.
The project is based on no. 1 gas turbine running on natural gas, associated with a three-pressure level RH horizontal, natural circulation HRSGs feeding a full condensing steam turbine generator.
As part of Tecnimont scope in the EPC, the client requested the full Training of the Operation & Maintenance team before plant start up.
The power plant fulfilled all contractual technical requirements including high availability and strict environmental emission controls.
