LDPE
The project was awarded to Tecnimont in consortium with Tecnimont Planung und Industrieanlagenbau, Tecnimont subsidiary, by the Client Slovnaft Petrochemicals s.r.o., member of MOL Group, one of the largest players in the European Oil & Gas market.
The project is part of the Slovnaft Petrochemicals’ development plan in Bratislava. The new LDPE4 unit based on Basell License (Lupotech T technology) replaced seven older lines and produces low density polyethylene. This is the basis for a wide range of products, such as food and agricultural plastic wrapping, toys, health supplies, insulation and other materials used in construction. Once the new line started operating, annual polyethylene production capacity has reached 220,000 tonnes.
The new plant started commercial production in early 2016 and is part of Slovnaft´s massive investment in petrochemicals which includes industrial infrastructure and other technologies.
Slovnaft and Tecnimont have been partners since 2008, when the first contract for the development of Front End Engineering Design and Cost Estimate regarding Bratislava’s plant was signed.
The plant has been inaugurated in September 2015 by Miroslav Obert, State Secretary of Slovak Ministry of Economy, Oszkár Világi, Chairman and CEO of Slovnaft, Fabrizio Di Amato, Chairman of Maire Tecnimont, Pierroberto Folgiero, CEO of Maire Tecnimont, and Roberto Martini, Italian Ambassador in Bratislava.
