Chemical & Petrochemical

Tecnimont is a world leader in the Chemical and Petrochemical sector

Tecnimont has a successful track record of several Olefin plants, developed from different feedstock using various technologies

Tecnimont's history goes back to Giulio Natta, the Italian Nobel Prize winner in chemistry and inventor of polypropylene (also known as “Italian plastic”).

Tecnimont has a long-lasting experience in the design and construction of Butadiene plants via Extraction and via De-Hydrogenation, Synthetic Rubbers plants

Thanks to the synergy between our business lines, Tecnimont has the capability and know-how to provide the full production cycle

Tecnimont is strongly committed to the development of Green Chemistry. We are cooperating with all the major providers of Bio and Fermentation technologies

Tecnimont can boast a wide and diversified competence in the design and construction of Chemical and Petrochemical plants.

Technology

We have access to all first-class technologies and the expertise to manage and execute several projects simultaneously

This project will be one of the largest polymer production units in the world. The project will require every bit of our expertise and capabilities from our decennial experience in polyolefins.

Tecnimont is leading the consortium with Performance Contractors, a US-based general contractor with a strong track record in the area, for the realization of process units and associated offsites and utilities for Exxon Mobil Corporation’s (ExxonMobil) Baytown petrochemical complex, located about 25 miles east of Houston, Texas, USA.

The Propane Dehydrogenation Plant (PDH) in Tobolsk is the largest among dozens of petrochemical plants built by Tecnimont in Russia starting from the thirties of the last century (the first plants were built by Montecatini and Montedison).

The development of the projects includes engineering services, equipment, material supply and construction activities up to the start-up and performance testing of the two plants, located in the Sumgayit Petrochemical Complex, 30 km North of Baku.

The Etileno XXI Project consists of the development, construction and commercial operation of a petrochemical complex in Mexico: one cracker unit to produce ethylene from ethane and three polyethylene plants with an aggregate nominal capacity of 1,050 kta.

The award to Tecnimont, in Joint Venture with the Chinese partner HuanQiu Contracting & Engineering Corporation Ltd. (HQC), of two important packages of the RAPID complex, under development by Petronas Refinery and Petrochemical Corporation – a company of the Petronas Group - is a further demonstration of the company's global leadership in the polyolefins business, and allows Tecnimont to expand its presence in South East Asia

In September 2005, Tecnimont successfully completed the Complex composed of two Petrochemical Units both based on Basell License (Spheripol and Hostalen technologies) and relevant utilities and off-site facilities.
