Punta Catalina, successful synchronization of the first unit

March 1, 2019 - On the 27th of February, another successful milestone was completed for the Punta Catalina Power Plant. At 5.34 pm, the first unit was successfully synchronized to input first megawatts in the national electricity system (Sistema Eléctrico Nacional Interconectado – SENI) with the maximum allowed power of 36.5 MW.

An important step towards the commissioning and completion of the Project, result of the hard work of the team and further demonstration of Tecnimont’s ability and experience in the field of power generation technology.

Punta Catalina Plant is composed of two large electricity generating units of 376 MW gross each (for a total of 752 MW gross) and it is based on state-of-the-art technology to achieve high performance close to “supercritical” coal-fired power plants.
